Panels and Committees

How are the panels and committees of the National Urban Development Policy composed? Who works on the Policy Board? What are the tasks of the National Urban Development Policy Working Group? How do we promote the dialogue between those responsible from politics, administration, business, science and civil society?

Composition of the Panels and Committees

Representatives from the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB), the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBSR) as well as the partners of the National Urban Development Policy (Conference of Building Ministers of the States, Association of German Cities, German Association of Towns and Municipalities) are engaged in the regular panels and committees of the National Urban Development Policy and are in close exchange.
In addition, experts from various areas of society work on the panels and committees on a topic and project basis. With this program structure, we are fulfilling the mandate from the memorandum "Towards a national Urban Development Policy" (2007) and creating new opportunities for better cooperation between those responsible from politics, administration, business, science and civil society.

Policy Board

The supreme body of the National Urban Development Policy is a policy board appointed by the Federal Minister of Building. The task of the policy board is to pick up impulses from the social and technical discussion, to distribute content and topics of urban development in both directions as multipliers and to provide suggestions for topics and projects of the National Urban Development Policy. The policy board of the National Urban Development Policy comprises 40 personalities from associations and chambers relevant to urban policy, civil society and partner organisations, who are appointed for a period of three years.

National Urban Development Policy Working Group

The National Urban Development Policy Working Group is the working and coordination body of the National Urban Development Policy. This is where the close exchange between the federal, state and local levels takes place. The working group names topics and initiates joint activities for the initiative. As a jury, the working group also decides on the selection of the projects to be funded.
The National Urban Development Policy Working Group is currently made up of representatives from the following organisations:
- Federal government (BMWSB, BBSR),
- States and
- Municipal umbrella organisations (Association of German Cities, German Association of Towns and Municipalities).
