Innovation regarding the modernization of old buildings

In order to keep the district “Brunckviertel” from the 1930s attractive in the long term, the estate was thoroughly upgraded. The main focus was on energy-efficient measures. On the one hand, the concept included the demolition and modernization of the old buildings, on the other hand, it included the new building of apartments. Furthermore, new green spaces were established and a traffic concept reduced the traffic in the residential area. These measures did not only improve the living quality of the entire “Brunckviertel” sustainably, but also reduced energy use and CO2 emissions of the entire residential area by 80 %.
