Re-use of a factory ensemble of historical value to the city

After the former West Palatinate Cloth Factory became vacant in 1988 following a brief interim usage by the army, its demolition was in discussion. But the city purchased the factory and developed an attractive business location for future-oriented companies by itself. Today, the former factory is characterised by a mixture of commercial and public usage. It has once again become a point of identification and a landmark for the city.
