New use for wasteland areas

The use of the goods station Schalke-Süd, close to the inner-city, has been abandoned. The aim of the City of Gelsenkirchen is to develop the 15-hectare wasteland into a high-quality residential area. Because of the demand situation, this development can only be completed over the medium-term or in stages. An attractive leisure and open space is the temporary use of a nine-hectare area.
