Ostfildern „Scharnhauser Park“

Ecological new development on military wasteland

Following the withdrawal of the US army in the beginning of the 1990s, the former military base assumed a key role for the urban development in Ostfildern. The new urban district „Scharnhauser Park” was aimed at ameliorating the acute housing shortage experienced in the entire Stuttgart area. A varied and ecologically oriented urban district is being created on the military wasteland since 1994.
