On the site of a former foundry for the production of pig iron, which belongs to two neighbouring communities, an industrial park was built. In order to simplify planning and implementation, the communities Ilsede and Lahstedt joined together in a Planning Association in accordance with § 205 BauGB (Baugesetzbuch - Federal Building Code), which processed and developed the wasteland for both communities and markets the area from a single source.
